History of Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels

With a growing Jewish community in Monmouth County, New Jersey and no Jewish funeral home to serve a the growing need, Mr. Sydney Cooper and Mr. Leslie Bloomfield returned to school to obtain their funeral director licenses. In 1978, they opened Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels in Ocean Township, New Jersey. In 1988, Mr. Cooper retired and moved to Florida.

The business expanded to a second location in Manalapan, New Jersey in 1991. In 1996, Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels joined the network that would become the Dignity Memorial network, North America’s largest provider of funeral, cremation and cemetery services.
