History of I.J. Morris Funeral Directors
Established in Brooklyn, New York in 1888 by Joseph Morris, I.J. Morris Inc. was incorporated in its present form in 1929. When Jewish immigrants arrived in New York, they organized synagogues, formed mutual protection and sacred societies to bury the dead and purchase cemetery property.
Joseph Morris recognized the need to secure an affiliation with these newly formed religious and secular Jewish organizations. In 1990, I.J. Morris recognized the need to remain in contact with their base community who moved to Florida, so they opened a chapel in the Lake Worth area.
Today, I.J. Morris is located in a new facility in West Palm Beach, Florida, as well as in New York (Dix Hills, Hempstead and Brooklyn). I.J. Morris is also affiliated with Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapels in Miami Beach, Aventura, Deerfield Beach and Delray Beach Florida.
